Classic games on modern PCs
MOGGA is a project for people who want to enjoy classic PC games on modern computers without modern compatibility problems. We fix the technical issues that get in the way: crashes, broken sound, bugs at high frame rates and trouble with widescreen displays. The goal is to make returning to an old favourite easier, without spending hours searching for fixes.
The same game, a little better
We want to keep the game you remember, with optional improvements that fit its original style. Sometimes that means going beyond compatibility fixes: adding small gameplay features, controller support or improving visual effects within the game engine. These changes should feel at home in the game, without random screen-space effects layered over everything. The idea is still the same game, just a little better.
A small app for installs and updates
You can download patches manually or use the MOGGA app, a small platform that handles installation and updates for you. It finds supported games, checks compatibility before installing fixes and lets you remove them and restore backed-up original game files. You choose when to install updates. We target known game versions (such as official Steam, GOG or retail releases), and each game's page explains what a patch changes and which files it modifies.
The app doesn't need to stay open while you play. Once you close it, it doesn't keep running in the background. It has no in-game overlay and doesn't track your gameplay or rummage through personal documents. Its job is to deliver and manage fixes, then let you get on with playing.
What data does the app use?
We count successful installations without attaching account or device identifiers. If you choose to send a problem report, you can include basic PC details such as your Windows version, CPU, GPU and RAM. You can review what's included before sending. We don't attach IP addresses, account details or device identifiers to these reports.
Why might my antivirus flag it?
Our patches hook into game functions, replace values while the game is running and inject custom code into its process. That's how we fix decades-old problems that can't be fixed through settings or ordinary file edits. These methods can look suspicious to antivirus software, even when they're being used to repair a game.
We link public VirusTotal reports where available so you can check the scan results yourself. While game-hooking techniques can sometimes trigger false positives in legitimate patches, we work transparently to explain reported flags and resolve false positives where possible.
If something gets flagged by your antivirus, let us know on Discord so we can investigate.
Is it free?
Yes. MOGGA and our patches are free. If you'd like to support the project, you can do so on Boosty. Support is voluntary and doesn't buy exclusive patches or extra features: everyone gets the same releases. Putting fixes behind a paywall would go against the spirit of the project.
